New York City
Friday, September 13th 2024
Cybersecurity professionals and business leaders across New York City gathered in Midtown for HackerOne’s Security@ Conference on Thursday, September 12th, 2024. The event, which was part of a global tour, brought together security practitioners for an evening of panels, insightful discussion, and networking. Bug bounty platform, HackerOne helps organizations identify digital security threats and vulnerabilities in their infrastructure by leveraging independent researchers across the globe, who are often compensated based on the severity of the issues they discover. Through a series of presentations, attendees discovered how ethical hackers can be integrated into their existing cybersecurity strategy.
“Like any emerging technology, AI is an opportunity and a risk. We've seen both aspects expand how HackerOne benefits our customers and community,” Dean Hickman-Smith, HackerOne’s Chief Revenue Officer, told AccessCyber. “Our in-platform AI copilot, Hai, is unlocking unprecedented productivity. Customers use Hai to save an average of 5 hours a month on vulnerability management activities — freeing that time for more strategic work. On the other hand, the HackerOne community uses Hai and other AI tools to improve efficiency in reconnaissance and vulnerability reporting.”
In addition to HackerOne executives, the audience heard from subject matter experts including: Neil Schloth, Vice President of Global Security at Fiserv, Mark Peterson, the Chief Information Security Officer at Modo, and Jose Ramos, an offensive security and penetration testing leader at Uber. The event’s theme centerered around leveraging AI to support researchers rather than replace them. HackerOne leadership also announced the launch of Essential VDP, a free tool to help organizations navigate compliance requirements.
